Hello, tender friends!
The simplicity Cubby’s delight yesterday reminded me that family fun can be free and create lasting memories.

Somehow Anthony and I ended up in matching shades of blue when getting dressed for church.
“Hey, we match!” I said. “Cubby, do you want to wear blue today too?”

The kid couldn’t run to the closet fast enough. He ripped a blue plaid shirt off a hanger. Anthony handed him his khaki pants to wear with the plaid shirt, but Cubby insisted on wearing blue sweatpants instead.
“You and mom have blue on the top and the bottom, so I need to have blue pants too,” he insisted.
We said ok.
“We’re the BLUEBIES!” Cubby declared with gusto as he pulled his pants up. Then he told me he wanted to take pictures of us, which is how the picture of me and Anthony together above came to be. Everywhere we went on Sunday, he told whoever would listen that his whole family was wearing a blue shirt and blue bottoms.
So much of happiness is rooted in a secure feeling of belonging, and Jacob’s delight at all being dressed in the same colors reminded me of that. Maybe we have a new family tradition on our hands.
Trips to theme parks are great, a new bike is great, being able to pay for extra curricular activities for your kids is great, but this-belonging- is the easiest way to give a kid the childhood they deserve.
Okay, that’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!
