The Easiest S.E.O. Tip!

Hello, tender friends!

I dedicated my lunch breaks last week to completing an introductory S.E.O. course and passed my first exam. Wee!

I wanted to share a super simple, low-tech tip that I learned that everyone can implement here on WordPress. I prefer to consume content in written form, and I figured this could help other people who like getting information from blogs.

Ok, here goes: I have traditionally written “Click here to return to the homepage” at the end of my blog posts, using the internal link feature here on WordPress to use “here” to direct people to my homepage. Friends, I’ve been doing it all wrong! I’m sorry!

A slightly enhanced user experience looks like this: “Want to read more? My welcome homepage tells you how this blog got started.”

The idea here is that the word that is internally linked should refer to the page destination. “Click here” was unrelated to my welcome home page, whereas internally linking to the words “welcome homepage” tells you where you’re going.

Now, what will happen when someone like me who has never written about SEO before makes a post about it? When I go rogue and write about topics that interest me that I’ve never put on the blog before, the algorithm punishes me, but I don’t care. 🙂

Ok, that’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!

Thank you, Mary! I even took it another step further and used AI to create that feature photo! I’m feeling so 2026!

Kudos to you Stacey for learning more about SEO AND using AI to create a photo! Indeed you ARE embracing 2026 with the latest! (I’m more 1996!!)

Thank you, Nancy! 1996 was a GREAT year! I grew up on 90s alternative music, so I will always have a soft spot for anything from that decade. 🙂

On a more serious note, I remember when Hotel Rwanda happened in 1994 because it was all over the news. I was SHOCKED when researching something today and discovering that the movie they made about it in 2004 is called a “historical film.” I just don’t understand how something from my childhood is considered “historical.”
