3 Things I’m Leaving in 2025

Hello, tender friends!

I hope you’re faring well if you’ve been hit by this storm! It has been wild in Virginia, and this little guy hasn’t been to school since January 23 because the schools have been closed.

I put the Christmas tree away a few weeks ago, right around the New Year, and I’ve been reflecting on what I’m choosing to leave behind and not bring into 2026.

Here’s my list:

  1. The wrong kinds of workouts. I spent years doing overdoing cardio because I didn’t really know other ways to work out. I also thought it was the best way to get a toned look fast.

I still do cardio because it’s important, but also more mindful, unilateral exercises to reveal muscle imbalances. The picture above doesn’t look glorious, but it is so helpful for addressing pelvic imbalances caused by pregnancy.

2. Timid prayers. You know when you’re so mad you’re either going to burn something down or dig deep in prayer with God? This rage has driven me to be bold in prayer in a way that I probably wouldn’t have understood if not for the rage driving me.

Satan doesn’t like having his ground taken, but neither do I. I’m reminded of this scene from War Room.

Jesus has given us the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions (Luke 10:19). But authority only works if you use it. I’m in a season of God showing me times I could have exercised authority but didn’t know to do so.

3. Restricting carbs past 6 pm. I’ve traditionally feared carbs late at night, but over the last year I’ve eaten the occasional sweet potato in the evening because I felt like I was at a deficit.

And you know what? I felt great and slept great, even when I ate a sweet potato at 8 pm.

I’ve generally found my self needing more carbs at this phase of my life, and I’m ok with it. I’m in tune enough with my body to trust its signals when it says I’m at a deficit. I have historically told my body that it wasn’t going to get what it was asking for in these situations in the past, but I won’t do that anymore.

    I guess I’m a creature of (old!) habits, Stacey. I can’t think of anything I’m intentionally left behind in 2025! But you’ve got me wondering, IS there something to forgo that would offer benefit? I’ll have to give that some prayerful thought!

      Well Nancy, maybe there isn’t anything you need to leave behind! Discovering scoliosis workouts has been huge for me this year, and I’m grateful the Lord has guided me in that way. Miraculous healing is fun, but sometimes God tells me how to put in the work for healing and do the work myself. Either way is a blessing. 🙂
