Cooking with Edible Flowers

Hello, tender friends!

I’m still fighting that war we Christians fight with prayer, but I’m sharing something different today. The paywall on this article I wrote is finally down-yay!

Writing about natural foods and foraging is one of my writing passions, so writing this article was fun and fulfilling. A friend even told me that I made foraging seem so simple that they’re actually going to try it this year. This made me glow! She didn’t really mean for that to be a compliment, but it was the greatest compliment I could have received.

On the negative side, I think I slightly overstated my point in the first paragraph. While I meant every word, reading it with a several month lag between turning it in and its actual publication, I wonder if I got carried away and it’s a little cringey.

Okay, that’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing! I pray that 2026 will have more opportunities to do writing like this, without the potentially cringey over statements!

The first paragraph was delightful, and it inspired me to read the rest of the article! My mother loved dandelion greens on salads! Great, great work!

Oh, that’s a relief. Thank you, Mary!

And dandelion greens on salad are amazing! I’m so happy that she passed that down to you.

You are always a wealth of information! Recently heard someone talking about the tree of life in Revelation 22 and its “leaves for the healing of the nations” shows that making tea from fruit tree leaves has many health benefits.

Thank you for reading along, Jon! I’ll definitely check out Revelation 22. I’m wondering if it’s the same passage I’ve heard about before that talks about herbs and their healing properties, just using slightly different words. Either way, plant medicine is powerful, and I’m sure there are other passages in the Bible that point to it if you’re looking for it.

Foraging with my little boo boo is such a blessing!

Dandelion tea sounds like a fun activity to try with my granddaughters in the spring. I just put a post-it in my gratitude journal, a number of pages ahead, as a reminder. Years ago we ate at Relia’s Garden, a restaurant not far from Nantahala Forest in NC. The salad I ordered included flowers–from the restaurant garden. So pretty and delicious!

Oh, that sounds like such a special meal, Nancy! Isn’t it delightful how special meals can stay with us and bring us pleasure when we remember them even years after the fact?

I’m so glad that you’ll be foraging with your granddaughters! It’s one of the funnest and easiest homeschooling lessons I’ve implemented with my son. Enjoy ! And kudos to you for being organized enough to put a sticky note several months ahead!
