Christmas Moments

Hello, tender friends !

Here’s a roundup of some fun Christmas moments:

  1. We enjoyed window shopping at this restaurant that features local artisans of all types a few days before Christmas. Everything is beautiful, but we only window shopped because we really don’t need anything.

2) I celebrated turning 40 with a great workout. I’m slowly increasing my squat weights as my knees allow.

3) We enjoyed a 65 degree day in Christmas Eve. So here we are delivering presents in our spring outfits.

4) We visited a hotel nearby that has a Christmas tree-decorating competition each year, and Cubby got his picture in “Santa’s sleigh.”

That’s my dad on the far left. His dementia is progressing, but I’m still praying for a miracle, so please join me if you feel inclined.

5) After dinner one night, we walked outside and Cubby said, “Ho, ho, ho, merry Christmas!” in his deepest imitation-Santa voice. Someone down the street shouted back, “Merry Christmas!”

And you know what? Even though the way we celebrate Christmas is full of pagan traditions and Jesus wasn’t actually born when we celebrate Christmas, that moment was nice. It’s nice to have a time of year that strangers extend good will and friendly greetings to each other through the dark.

Ok, that’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!

You won’t be sorry about those workouts! They make more long term difference than even the noticeable short term benefits. I have been pretty consistent most of my adult life. At 71, I am a lot more capable than many my age.

Consistency is definitely key! I’m glad that you’re getting around and feeling well, Jon. I really want to be around for Jacob and any other kids God gives us for as long as possible.

Happy belated 40th birthday! You don’t look a day over fabulous! And you knew I would love the image of y’all making spirits bright and the smooth ride in that sleigh!

Thank you, Mary! The sleigh was Jacob’s favorite this year.
