Hello, tender friends!
I recently published this article with Business Insider. As it went live, I realized that I never actually shared this part of our wedding story on here. So here it is:
This is a very pared down version of the original, but as I’ve studied Business Insider’s branding, I see how the edits reflect their branding.
It’s 2025. Literary doesn’t sell if you’re aiming for mass consumption. This is sad, but facing reality demands acknowledging this fact: simplicity is good for clicks.
As the writing life continues, I continue to unlearn all the things that were praised in academia- complex sentence structure, higher-level vocabulary and tying together disparate ideas in surprising ways. In the words of Kurt Vonnegut, “So it goes.”
In other news, our sunflowers are popping. It’s comforting that some things never change.

And, on a completely unrelated note, our new favorite way to use zucchini this season has been in zucchini fries with homemade sauce from last year.

Ok, that’s all for today, tender friends. Thank you for stopping my, and thank you for sharing!
