Celebrating a New Publication

Hello, tender friends!

Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please

While it fades, the thrill of a new byline is is fun!

I have received so much good, free literary nonfiction advice from the Brevity blog that it was a privilege to publish this with them and pay it forward:

I believe in supporting other writers. I believe that God is so great that we can all meet our goals, and we’re not in competition with each other. I wrote this because my hope is that other writers will unearth material the same way I did following my decluttering experience.

In other news, it’s VBS week, and we’ve already got one day down! I’ll share an update in my post next week.

In the meantime, what’s the best writing advice you’ve ever received?

Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!

Stacey, Great question. I’ve been a part of my writing group for nearly 20 years. Our leader says, “Write without abandon; edit without mercy.” And this, “You can’t edit what you haven’t written.” “Writers write and we must put words to paper in order to move forward.”

But I’ve learned myself that God is often in the delays of writing. There is usually something we need to learn to write the next chapter with honesty.

Thank you for sharing, Debi! That is such a good point- the delays may in fact be divine!

I agree- although I sometimes think we partner with God to expedite the process of healing so we’re ready to write a particular thing.
