5 More Things I Loved About New Mexico

Hello, tender friends!

Allow me to continue last week’s post.

#6. White Sands National Park. The beauty of this place was unearthly, and the sand doesn’t get hot because it’s white! This little guy had a blast.

I will say that I don’t recommend renting a slider to go down the hills. We had sort of high hopes, but you barely get any speed. Jacob had fun sliding down just because he’s still young enough for even mild speed to be fun.

#7. The miraculous staircase.

The story behind this is wild wild: the nuns prayed to Joseph, the patron saint of carpentry, for help with the staircase. A man mysteriously appeared and built the 33-step staircase and disappeared without ever receiving payment.

#8. Roswell. I didn’t really care about stopping by Roswell, but it didn’t really make sense not do. The town makes money by selling kitschy things on every corner, and I respect the hustle.

9. Snow in the desert! The high desert is a tricky place, and temperatures dropped the last day we were there. Light flakes began to fall, and I captured this photo of my darling, but you can’t really see the flakes.

Snow in the desert was one of those things I didn’t even realize was on my bucket list until I saw it, but I was able to add it to the list and cross it off on the same day.

10. This latte. I’m not one of those moms who gets a latte every day because I’m frugal, but I do enjoy a good latte every once in a while, especially on vacation.

Oh, and you know Cubby was in HEAVEN because a waffle made with white flour is something I’d never let him order at home.

11. Sharing adventure with my little Boo Boo.

Every time we were out hiking and he threw his walking sticks down to scramble up an area that required climbing, my heart burst on my chest. Remember this, I told myself. Not every parent gets to experience adventures like this with their kids.

You get married and you are happy to have a husband who becomes your co-adventurer. But when Jacob was younger, I didn’t know if he would one day be another co-adventurer because I didn’t know what personality he’d have. But he is. And it makes me so excited for what we have ahead as a family, as his spirit of adventure is so strong.

This ladder was broken up into sections but was a 140-ft ascent in total. I kept waiting for Cubby to get scared, but he never did.

The last few days of vacation Jacob asked us if we could move to New Mexico. I told him that I don’t have any plans to do so right now. But I thought it was precious that he had so much fun he asked that.

Ok, that’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!
