More Synthetic Fibers… ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Hello, tender friends!

I can now spot polyester a mile away. It’s everywhere. The last time I went shopping, I left the store empty-handed because I couldn’t find any sweatpants that didn’t have polyester in them.

As a recap for new friends, I’ve been decluttering my closet for quite a while. After several massive hauls, I’ve slowed down because I thought I’d gotten rid of most of the synthetic fibers.

My dream is to have a closet full of organic natural fibers only. Because I’m not quite there yet (an organic wardrobe is expensive), I’ve been focusing on buying only cotton or linen, even if it’s not organic. I figure that I’m doing better than I was since I’m consciously avoiding synthetic fibers.

But then this snuck up on me.

I put this shirt on in the morning because I like the color and wasn’t doing anything important. As soon as I put it on, something felt less than perfect.

I checked again. The color was fine. The necklace I wore with it was fine. The mid-thigh length and loose fit were fine. I went about my day.

It wasn’t until the end of the day that I checked the label: rayon!

While I’ve been mostly focused on getting rid of polyester, it’s time to add rayon, aka as viscose, to the list. And nylon and acrylic.

They’re all petroleum-based, which is bad enough, but are also processed with things as troubling as formaldehyde….ick. Petroleum is a known endocrine disruptor, which is bad enough, but then these fabrics are also treated with other chemicals that are endocrine disruptors… So they are basically toxicity layered under more toxicity.

Even silk may be problematic, depending on how it’s processed. But I’m not ready to cross that bridge yet. I’ve always loved this silk shirt even though it’s slightly obnoxious. And sometimes I like looking at these bright colors that I wore in the spring in the middle of the winter for a little pick me up.

Anyhow, that’s all for today, tender friends! I’ll give more updates as I continue learning more about fabrics.

Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!

This is so good and keep hunting for your healthy fabrics!!! Have you research the frequencies of fabrics? If you have then you are aware that natural fabrics like linen, hemp, organic cotton and wool have higher frequencies. Who would have thought!!!๐Ÿ’–

Yes, Mary! That is why having an organic wardrobe is my goal. But I have heard that if you don’t have the money to make everything organic that it’s best to focus on undergarments as they’re the closest to your skin.
