Holiday Recap

Hello, tender friends! I hope you’re staying safe in the storm if it’s hitting the part of the country where you live today! Our power has gone off a few times, so I’m going to make this brief in the hopes that I can send it off before losing internet again.

The candlelit service on Christmas Eve at church was magical. Seeing all the candles light up the sanctuary was beautiful, and the kids went on stage for a story time built into the service.

In keeping with the theme of candlelight, Anthony and I held hands across a candlelit table for a dinner out (alone!) to celebrate my 39th birthday.

And yes, I see that Anthony is wearing the same shirt in both photos. We’re parents…our wardrobe has gotten smaller year after year.

I was looking forward to getting back to our regular routine, but driving isn’t safe today, so we are housebound with high-protein snacks.

Jacob and Anthony have heroically shoveled the driveway and Jacob tells me that he has a plan to make “snow caterpillars.” He’s been up since 5:00 a.m. because he couldn’t get back to sleep because of his snow excitement. And while we’re tired, I know that you only get that kind of magic for a limited time in childhood, so we’re embracing it.

Thank you to the new subscribers! It’s such an honor to have you read along. I hope you are staying warm in your part of the country or your part of the world!

Happy Birthday and Happy New Year! Your shirt comment reminded me of my clothing rule: if I see myself wearing the same clothes in pictures for 10 years, it’s time to buy new ones. I totally understand.

Thank you , Edward! Yes, I hear you, although some items I own (like that black coat) are actually more than ten years old and I’m ok with it!

thank you for your comment, as reading it brought my attention to am eyesore of a typo! I use talk to text to do all of my blog posts, but the phone sometimes does strange things. when I saw your comment I realized that my phone wrote “you’re” instead of “your” in my last sentence. If only editing it on here could fix it on the emails. But as long as I use talk to text, I guess that will be the case.

You’re very welcome! Now that I think about it, I have a jacket that I’ve been wearing since 2004, and I have no plans to replace it yet. Smartphones are a beautiful thing, but sometimes even autocorrect drives me crazy. I’m really enjoying your blog and look forward to reading more of your posts this year.

lol, thank you, Teresa! I don’t feel that way when I’m around college kids – their youth seems unfathomable! But if there’s even a grain of truth in what you’re saying, I’m going to ride that train to the end of the tracks. 😉
