Birthday Joy😊

Hello, tender friends!

I had a different post ready to go last week, but I just have to share this news: I have a 5-year-old!

Just look at that darling little elf face. 🥰

I know that I’m blinking in that picture, but I just love seeing all the kids in the background having fun!

We gave Jacob two options this year: he could either have his party at the trampoline park but only invite 10 kids, or have it at our church and invite more people. He loves getting large crowds together and immediately voted for the church party. He also informed us after the party that he wants to have just as many people next year. 😂🤣

We made things as simple as we could, but if you’ve thrown a kid’s party you know that it’s kind of a lot of work no matter how simply you do it. We ordered pizza from a local natural foods store (it still had white flour, which I obviously oppose, but at least it was “healthyish” in the pizza realm.

For dessert, I made almond flour cacao cakes. This is a once-in-a-while treat as the mix contains coconut sugar, but it was at least better than a store-bought cake. Part of raising a kid to eat well is figuring out how to have things like birthday parties so they’re not missing out on normal childhood experiences.

We also filled a pinata, and the kids had a grand old time beating it and collecting their prizes.

And I now have a 5-year-old. I know everybody says it, but really – where has the time gone? I can only vaguely remember what it was like to not be a mom.

We’ve had a lot of other fun that I’ll share next week. We are blessed! Just look at that little face that’s almost always lit up like a Christmas tree. 🥰🥰

May everyone have a blessed Thanksgiving this Thursday! I know that I have a lot to be grateful for, and I hope you do too!

Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!

*I apologize for my absence last week, but it has been for good reason. I’ve been busy with work assignments, which is actually an incredible blessing. I haven’t had a ton of writing steam left at the end of the day, but I’m endlessly grateful that God allows me to work in my chosen field right now. 😊
