Let’s talk about you and me
Let’s talk about all the bad things and the good things
That may be
Let’s talk about sweat

Oh hello there, tender friends! I know, I know those aren’t exactly the song lyrics from that Salt-N-Pepa classic from 1990. But the song fits, so I’m using it since the (likely) consistently warm days are upon us.
I dare say that yesterday the last time I’ll be wearing a sweater until next season.

(Sidebar-I made that necklace with hand blown glass beads on one of my crafting evenings! And happy solar eclipse day! We are in the path of the penumbra and are heading out to a solar eclipse party in a few hours.)
First, allow me to share something that Anthony gave me permission to share: Anthony spent years of his life not sweating. And if you’re thinking to yourself that that must be terribly unhealthy, that’s correct.
Sweating is one of our natural and important detoxification processes. As a teenager, like most teenagers, I applied thick layers of antiperspirant to my armpits, terrified of smelling like anything other than fresh flowers or candy apple while I was at school. My skin reacted to the toxic ingredients in conventional deodorant, and I had red rashes under my arms for years and years because of using them.
Flash forward to 38-year-old Stacey: I make my own deodorant, lotion, and mascara with entirely non-toxic ingredients. We eat off of our own property as much as possible. I do multiple things for a daily detox: breathing exercises, pilates, eating hot peppers, using a sauna sleeping bag, drinking bone broth, etc.
Now I can finally add detoxing my armpits with a pinch of bentonite clay and apple cider vinegar to my detox repertoire. While I know that armpits are kind of icky, I’m so sold on this that I had to share it with you. (Of course, if you’re trying to heal, detox is an essential part of that but also something that’s often overlooked by allopathic doctors. Obviously no hate to doctors – two of my best friends in the world are pediatricians).
I feel like my armpits just chewed a stick of peppermint gum. Weird? Yes. But also accurate.
It’s just so easy. All I did was take a pinch of bentonite clay between my fingers and mix it in a small dish with a few drops of apple cider vinegar. Then I applied the pace to my armpits, did my regular daily workout and washed it off afterwards. I’ve done it twice so far and managed to convince Anthony to do it with me. I’m trying to counteract the years of his life that he didn’t sweat because his body was holding on to toxins rather than expelling them.
The best part is that as the weather has heated up I haven’t noticed my armpits getting, shall we say French (no hate to French people-who doesn’t love a good French cheese?), on the days that I forget to put on deodorant right away. Pulling out toxins and bacteria just makes my armpits smell better.
While this isn’t an entirely free health hack because you’d have to buy the bentonite clay and the apple cider vinegar to do it, you use such a small amount that it costs perhaps a few pennies. And the ingredients are all natural ones from God’s pharmacy.
Okay, that’s all for today, tender friends! I thought about turning this into a bit more explanatory of a post about the importance of detoxing our lymph nodes, but this doesn’t seem like the right forum for that. So feel free to Google it or else ask me to explain it if you prefer.
Thursday’s post will be about the longing I’ve been feeling recently to return home.
Thank you for stopping by, and thank you for sharing!
