Dandelion Tea!

Hello, tender friends!

This is my relaxed face after enjoying a cup of dandelion tea! How I relish a good book and a cup of tea when I get the chance to indulge!

(As an aside unrelated to health, I made those earrings using faux leather and my die cut machine, but I don’t like how they flip around because of the lightweight material. So I’ll be problem solving that and then hopefully making more).

Yes, I’m still amped up about dandelions! Who knew this humble little thing contains such wonder?

Every part of the dandelion is edible, but I only used some flowers and the roots for my tea.

I should have trimmed to the petals a bit more carefully, because I did find the stems to be slightly bitter. I also skipped roasting the roots because I was in a rush, but it’s apparently the roasting that imparts the good coffee flavor.

But it was still good! Definitely earthy, and I would add some honey if I were serving it to someone else, but I was overall very satisfied with the flavor. And you just can’t beat these health benefits for free from your backyard!

As much as I love looking at a perfectly manicured lawn, it fills me with a special sorrow when I see one without these little cancer fighters growing everywhere. Spraying weed killer is despising one of the gifts that God has given us! Isn’t that just like us, being the humans we are?

Oh, and I utilized some dandelion greens by throwing them in with my soup when I was reheating it.

The greens were a huge culinary win. People liken the flavor to arugula, and I love arugula, so I will definitely be doing this in the future also.

Ok, that’s all for today! Thank you for stopping by. I’ll have one more post on the culinary use of dandelions on Thursday and then jump into the spiritual revelation related to this.

Thank you for sharing!

YOU are amazing, my beautiful friend! You work full-time, a feat that I cannot imagine since becoming a mother! Plus, this kind of stuff makes a really great homeschooling lesson for Cubby. He loved making the dandelion fritters and doesn’t even give them a chance to grow back before asking for more.

I totally thought of you while I was cutting those earrings on my die cut machine. And yes, I wish we lived closer. SW VA just needs some Maniac! And your presence could help me rediscover my spicy!

I’m going to roast the roots next time. I also read that seasoning with cinnamon and other things is good. I just didn’t have a ton of time that day, but next time I’ll make it fancier!

    Be careful of the roots

It can give you diarrhea. I give it to my cat in a tea for his constipation due to his medicine, although he does not get the trots from it

thank you, Theresa! I’ve been a crafting mom maniac. I haven’t done it yet, but from what I’ve read you grossed them for about 40 minutes at 350ยฐ in the oven. But people say it’s important to keep an eye on them so they don’t burn.

Pure nature is the best thing you can consume, because drinking this beneficial plant means that your kidneys will produce more urine. The body will be able to remove waste and toxins from your organs more quickly. In addition, dandelion tea can also help remove harmful bacteria from your digestive system and genitals.

I enjoyed reading it dear Stacey, nice to have met your site, and someone who also knows how to appreciate the medicinal gifts of nature.

Yours is the third or fourth first-hand report I’ve heard regarding dandelion tea, Stacey. I really will have to try it someday.

You can’t bear detox for free! Although the peak season for using the flowers in bread has passed, I also highly recommend that. My family loved it.

Thank you for saying hi, Mitch!
