Why Decluttering Has Me Crying Happy Tears 😉

Hello, tender friends!

Believe me, this is worth waiting for the punch line.

Sometime within the past year, the pastor included Deuteronomy 6: 4-9 in the sermon. (The fact that I remember this is significant because I’m not always the most attentive during sermons).

Anthony was working with the kids in Sunday school that day, so I filled him in on the service as we left. I quoted the verse and said, “The Lord highlighted that to me as the pastor spoke and I think we’re supposed to be doing that” (have some indication that we follow Yahweh on our doorposts).

“Yeah, but we don’t really want to make any more holes in the walls,” he answered. So we settled for this, which we had made before I got pregnant with Cubby.

So we hung it up. We have some crosses hanging up on the walls and a menorah over the fireplace. Anyone who walked into the house would quickly guess that we’re Christian. But I still felt like something was missing and couldn’t put my finger on it.

Then, while decluttering today, I found this.

Whoah. Yahweh is really talking to me.

It’s Deuteronomy 6:4-9 if you can’t read it, Hebrew on the top with English underneath. “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[a] 5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6 These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

I don’t remember buying it and don’t know where it came from, but it was mixed in with all of our other possessions that I was decluttering.

Yahweh has spoken. And that nail that it’s hung on was already there on the door post, so we didn’t need to make any new holes in the wall.

Yahweh has spoken…and I’m still puzzling through it and blown away. But I believe he would want me to share this revelation of His love with you.

    That is so amazing. God is great and greatly to be praised. Yesterday, I was singing Psalm 145:1-4 (in Hebrew), God impressed on me a melody to these verses. My daughter was over and she reminded me the timetable when this melody came to me (when the care for my mom was settled -after 5 long years of worry, hard work)- it had happened so fast and was settled in a far better way than we imagined!! We both gave glory to God because He works upstream for all of our good and especially for His glory.

    Here’s one for ya – my step-father, if I remember correctly, stopped at a red light and had looked down out his window and saw a gas cap sitting in the street. He opened his door and leaned over and picked it up. That day or within a few days I was at their (my mother and his) house and he gave it to me. I threw it in my trunk for a just in case moment.

    It sat in my trunk a couple weeks I think. A group of friends were coming over to my house to hang out. When one of the guys was leaving and we walked him outside to say goodbye, he noticed that his gas cap was missing. He realized he had left it on top of his car when getting gas on the way over for the get together.

    And yes, I said, “Hey wait a minute, I might have something for you.” and got the gas cap from my step-father out of the trunk of my car and gave it to him. It fit and he was happy. I do hope that he remembers that, because at the time he was a young Christian and I believe our Loving Father was letting him know, He cares for the least of things in our lives. He even mentioned that at the time. I don’t remember who exactly that was, just that it was one of the guys. So anyone reading this and it sounds familiar, and you are male, we might have known each other back in the 1990’s.
