My Birthday Self-Care

Hello, tender friends!

I got to enjoy all of my favorite healthy things on my birthday! (Of course, my number one favorite thing is Cubby and Anthony, and I get to enjoy them every day!)

While many of you know that I’m fasting from caffeinated tea for another 10 months or so, I enjoyed receiving this new snowflake mug from church and using it to drink green rooibos tea.

As if that wasn’t enough, my sister gave me this gorgeous tea cup for Christmas. Most of our nice things have been in storage for years, so it’s special to have this to drink from.

One of my favorite past times is experimenting with new recipes. And I got to make my very first broccoli soup on my birthday.

If you don’t normally like your broccoli either raw or cooked, I implore you to try it in a soup. The texture was even creamier than I was anticipating, and I felt like I was drinking green velvet! And I mean that in the best possible way! It was so soothing to drink that green liquid down, and I ate four bowls of it the first day and then polished it off the second day. Even Anthony, who doesn’t love broccoli, said the soup was good. And Cub loved it too!

If you guessed that I’d eat my own homemade squash pie for my birthday cake, you’re right! I told Anthony that I wanted 38 candles, but I somehow only ended up with five. That’s ok. Cubby had a blast sitting on my lap and “helping” me blow them out.

So here I am, grateful for the privilege of another year around the sun. Thank you, Lord, for this gift, and help me to make the most of it!

Ok, it’s all for today, tender friends! Thank you for stopping by! I’ll be sharing a post about God revealing our children’s names (plural because of the future, not because I’m currently pregnant) to us.

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the birthday wishes!

And yes, I hear you! I was particularly tempted over the holidays because it’s so cozy to have a hot cup of tea during a celebratory time. Fortunately I had some caffeine free moringa tea on hand!

Happy Birthday. Year 38 was a great year for me. I remember it well. I was introduced to blogging on another site that year. Sixteen years later and I still love the blogging scene. That pie looks so yummy !! The cups are lovely, I’m a tea drinker myself. Not much of a coffee drinker though. It seems caffeine counteracts the effects of the high blood medicine I’m on. So I have my collection of caffeinated teas as well as herbal ones. So if you were to ever come to my house, I would be able to accommodate you. That lady and that little boy are beautiful and handsome – * wink * I like broccoli raw and love it cooked or in a soup. 🎡🎡I’m eating broccoli🎡🎡 A internet sensation song, taken from a Dana Carvey skit about a lady chopping broccoli – lol.

Two cheers for at least 38 more years – hugs. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽˆπŸŽŠπŸŽ‰πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸŽ‚πŸ«–

Thank you, Susan! That’s awesome that you remember the year you started blogging!

I have been so excited that they’ve had organic broccoli at Aldi this week. I made a Thai dish last night with broccoli that was lip-smacking!

      Hugs to you, my friend.

YW – typo I noticed in my comment – high blood * pressure * medicine – oopsie. I’m sure you understood what I was saying anyway. I just was thinking about how I got started with blogging. It all started with Neil Diamond’s song Forever In Blue Jeans. Maybe I’ll do a blog about it. It would be much less intense than the last few blogs I’ve done – lol. 😏 Its also TCT day. So I’ll go do that blog first. Hugs.
