Hello, tender friends!
Beauty.
Health.
Collagen provides both these things.
I try not to promote healthy things as “beauty treatments” because the health benefits are more important. But the truth is that your skin is a good indicator of your overall health. (As are the eyes and tongue and many other things). While we’re conditioned to believe that beauty is found in the latest fashion trends or the most current eyebrow preferences, true beauty is found in health (and loving God, obviously).

(I know I already posted a VBS picture, but I don’t take many pictures. I’ll try to get a closer up one of my skin because I’m not sure if this photo proves my point about collagen being good for your skin).
When I was in the throes of illness, my skin looked terrible, and I felt intense shame over my appearance. I also looked much older than I do now. I am so grateful that God has shown me how to heal and that it’s possible to reverse premature aging when you give your body what it needs.
But I’ve been throwing my own free collagen source. Foolish foolish foolish!
We never stop learning, and just this past week I found out that you can extract collagen from egg shells by cooking them inside your broth with vinegar. I facepalm a lot, but yeah…another facepalm moment.
So now whenever I can’t get a bone source, I’ll be throwing egg shells in my broth. Or, in the case of this past week, I’ll be throwing them in in addition to my bones. My skin is glowing after consuming the mix of bone/veggie/egg shell broth. The broth also had the most golden cast yet of my prepared broths.

Collagen is important because our bodies need it to make connective tissue. It’s also supposed to help increase lean muscle mass, prevent bone loss, relieve joint pain, and improve skin health.
While I can’t speak to the muscle mass or bone loss, I definitely feel the difference in my joints when I neglect to take my collagen, and so does Anthony. I can also definitely see the difference in our skin health if we’re slacking on consuming it.
We don’t drink alcohol, so tonight we are toasting with, you guessed it, bone broth made with egg shells! Bottoms up to your health!

Thank you for stopping by today, tender friends! And thank you so much to the new friends who have signed up for updates!
Also, if I miss Monday’s post, it’s because we may be planning a day trip with our little Cub, depending on Anthony’s work schedule.
Thank you for sharing!
